Replace front crankshaft radial sealing ring

Remove

Remove the front cover with seal (2).

Install the puller (5) so the claws (6) fit perfectly in the end of the seal race (8).

 The seal race (8) must not be removed with torch, grinding or blows. These procedures may cause later leaks between the new race and the crankshaft.

Displace the puller ring (3) so the puller claws (6) get firmly pressed on the outside race.

Tighten the puller bolt (4) and lift out the seal race (8).

Clean the seat of the seal race (8) on the crankshaft and oil with engine oil.



Installing

Heat-up the new seal race (8) to approximately 200 °C.

 Do not utilize direct flame on the seal race (8).

Install the new seal race (8) on the crankshaft with the mandrel (7).

 Install the mandrel (7) on the seal race (8) so there is some space between it and the stop on the crankshaft. The lack of this space will make it impossible to remove the seal race (8) in the future.



After cooling off, oil the seal race (8) with engine oil.

Install the front cover (2).
