Remove/install

Remove cylinder head.

Attach engine to assembly stand.

Remove transmission from engine.

Unlock the electrical connector (8) on the position sensor of the crankshaft (9) and remove the position sensor of the crankshaft (9).

Remove oil pan.

Remove flywheel.

Remove drive plate.

Remove the fuel lines (5) from the timing case cover (1) and crankcase.

Remove oil feed line of the exhaust gas turbocharger from the timing case cover (1).

Remove the glow output stage (6).

Expose the vacuum line (7) in the area of the timing case cover (1) and place it to one side.

Remove rear radial shaft sealing ring.

Remove screws (2, 3) in reverse order of the bolt plan.

 Installation: Insert the screws (2, 3) in numerical sequence of the bolt plan.

Remove timing case cover(1).


Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the timing case cover (1).
Leaks can occur otherwise.

 Installation: The pilot bushing must engage in the cutout in the timing case cover (1).

Clean sealing surfaces on crankcase, lower crankcase section (4) and timing case cover (1).
