Switch off ignition

Remove air filter housing

Remove spark plugs

Rotate the engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in the engine's direction of rotation till the piston of the cylinder to be inspected is in the bottom dead center

Connect up cylinder inspection light (1) and insert flexible endoscope (2) through the spark plug threaded bore into the cylinder to be checked

Check the cylinder wall, the piston crown and the valves

If there is 'scoring' (wear to the cylinder), the cylinder wall has become rough and the honing marks are no longer visible.

In case of doubt, remove the cylinder head:

Remove the left cylinder head
