Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. | |
1 | Disconnect battery ground line | ||
2 | Remove washer fluid reservoir | Twist locking lever and lift washer fluid reservoir. Use a screwdriver to press the washer fluid pump off the washer fluid reservoir with lines connected. | |
3 | Remove front bumper. | ||
4 | Detach vacuum line (13) at purge control valve (Y58/1) | ||
5 | Remove retaining clamps (12) at the radiator | Inspect rubber base (11), replace if necessary. | |
6 | Remove air intake scoop (14) and detach air intake line (16) from front end cross member (15) | ||
7 | Disconnect positive cable and control cable for power steering pump at left frame longitudinal member | Expose cables, replace clips attaching cables below terminal point. | |
8 | Turn steering wheel into middle position and withdraw ignition lock | The front wheels must be in the straight-ahead position. | |
9 | Unscrew bolt (8) and detach steering coupling (6) at the steering shaft (5), take off thrust piece (7) | Installation: Replace nut bracket (9). | |

10 | Detach hose (19) at air pump (M33) | ||
11 | Remove bottom section of soundproofing | Detach only engine compartment paneling at front right. | |
12 | Unscrew bolts (17) and remove cover (18) on left and right at front axle carrier (1) | ||
13 | Release cable of O2 sensor downstream of TWC (G3/1) from the retaining clip (arrow) at underfloor and expose | ||
14 | Unscrew bolt (21) and detach starter/alternator wiring harness (20) at oil pan | ||
15 | Unscrew bolt (23) and disconnect ground line (22) at oil pan | ||
16 | Take off wheelhousing liners on left and right at underfloor and fold down | To gain access to the rear Torx bolts (2). | |
17 | Take off strut (3) on left and right at front axle carrier (1) and at underfloor | | |
18 | Detach bracket for AC line at rear right of front axle carrier (1) | On models fitted with air conditioning (code H06). | |
19 | Position removal device of front axle carrier (10) against front axle carrier (1) | ||
20 | Unscrew torx bolts (2) | Installation: First fit all the Torx screws (2), then tighten. | |

21 | Carefully lower front axle carrier (1) with engine | Lower a maximum of 80 mm. When lowering check for unobstructed movement of coolant hoses, air-conditioning hoses and electric cables, in order to avoid causing any damage. Installation: Guides (arrows) on the front-axle carrier (1) must be inserted into the holes in the longitudinal member. Pay attention to guides at radiator. | |
