Remove

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove rear wheels.

Check boot on upper transverse control arm for leaktightness and condition

 Visual inspection, if boots are leaking (e.g. grease escape): 



Remove/install upper transverse control arm

Check boot on supporting joint (6) for leaktightness and condition

 Visual inspection, if boots are leaking (e.g. grease escape): 



Remove/install supporting joint on wheel carrier (wheel carrier removed)

Mount dial indicator (4) with dial indicator stand (5) on the head of the supporting joint (6) and pre-tension

 In the process the measuring drift must contact the underside of the transverse control arm (7) with a pre-tension of 3 mm.

Determine the play in the supporting joint (6)

 Determine the play in the supporting joint (6) by pulling and pushing the wheel hub in the vertical direction.

 If a play of 0.4 mm results from the measurement the supporting joint (6) must be replaced, see: 



Remove/install wheel carrier

Remove/install supporting joint on wheel carrier (wheel carrier removed)

Repeat the operation on the other side of the vehicle

Remove dial indicator (4) and dial indicator stand (5)



Install

Fit rear wheels
