Check

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Notes on coolant

All engines

1

Slowly screw down cap (1) of expansion reservoir (2)

To enable excess pressure in cooling system to be reduced.

2

Check composition of anticorrosion or antifreeze

Antifreeze tester

If the antifreeze content is too low, open the coolant drain plug (3) and drain off some coolant.
Correct the anticorrosion or antifreeze:

Correct corrosion or antifreeze protection
- subject to separate repair order

3

Check coolant level

Check coolant level and adjust to correct level only if coolant temperature is below 50 °C. The cooling system is correctly filled, when the coolant is level with the edge of the filler opening on the expansion reservoir (2).

4

Correct coolant level if necessary.

Pour in coolant up to the edge of the filler opening of the expansion reservoir (2).
Use only coolant of the specified composition.

5

Start the engine and allow it to warm to its normal operating temperature

Check coolant level again and refill coolant if necessary

6

Turn off engine
