Example
1 | Open the access cover to the cooling reservoir | On LO vehicles, access to carry out maintenance and repair jobs varies with body type/make.
Refer to body maker instructions.
Before changing coolant, check tightness and condition of the cooling and heating system.
Danger! | Risk of burns due to coolant high temperature | Do not remove the cooling system's reservoir cap (1) when cooling system temperature is above 90°C. Should it become absolutely necessary to remove the cooling system reservoir cap with the engine hot (above 50 °C) proceed carefully to avoid accidents. Cover the cap with a thick rag and carefully turn the cap to the 1ststage and let the steam out, before removing it. Wear protection clothes.
2 | Remove the cooling system reservoir cap (1) | Should the vehicle be fitted with space heating, operate the control to the open position.
3 | Drain the coolant | Coolant and eventual corrosion residue must be completely drained.
Should it be necessary degrease and descale
| Indications on coolant | ||
4 | Fill the cooling system
| |||
Use of the hydrometer | |||
Danger! | Risk of personal and material damage when starting the engine with the gearbox shifted in gear. Risk of personal injuries when carrying out jobs with engine hot and running | Make sure the gearbox is in neutral. Wear suitable clothing and pay attention to hot and moving engine parts.
5 | Without installing the cap (1), run the engine for 1 to 2 minutes at variable speed
6 | Stop the engine and replenish the cooling system
7 | Install the cooling system reservoir cap (1) | Write down on the Maintenance Manual the change of the coolant.
8 | Close the access cover to the cooling reservoir |
