Danger! | Life at risk from vehicle lowering in jobs between the wheels and the structure.Risk of injury by crushing or pressing, in jobs on the pneumatic suspension | Do not work between the wheels and the rolling space or wheel wells. Carry out the testing jobs and adjustment exclusively from the vehicle underside and with the help of a pit. Safely fence access to moving parts area. | |
1 | Place the vehicle over a pit | Apply the parking brake and chock the wheels to avoid that the vehicle moves accidentally. | |
2 | Disconnect electric wiring harness at connection (5) | Fasten the electric wiring harness and protect the electric connection (5). | |
3 | Remove the self-locking nut (7) and loosen the adjusting rod (4) on lower support | If possible, maintain the original length of the rods, as the adjusting will be carried out later. | |
4 | Remove the bolts (1) attaching the angular sensor (6) | Identify the correct position of the bolts (1) on the sensor holes. The incorrect positioning changes the height and causes problems later on. | |
5 | Remove the angular sensor (6) with the actuating lever (3) and the adjusting rod (4) | The actuating lever (3) is an integrating part of the angular sensor (6). | |
6 | Remove the adjustment rod ( 4) from the actuation lever (3) | ||

7 | Clean all angular sensor components | Pay special attention on the ball joint terminal area of the adjustment rod (4) | |
8 | Lubricate the ball joint terminals of the adjustment rod (4) | Remove excessive grease form ball joints. | |
| Installing | ||
9 | Install the adjustment rod (4) on the ball joint of the actuation lever of the sensor (3) | Install carefully to prevent damaging the articulation or the actuation lever. | |
10 | Install the angular level sensor (6) | Observe the positioning of the fastening bolts (1) in the correct holes of the angular level sensor (6) to the structure. | |
The excessive bolt tightening can damage the sensor operation. | |||

11 | Install the electric connection (5) on the angular level sensor (6) | If necessary fasten the end of the electric wiring harness with appropriate clamps. | |
12 | Turn the actuation lever (3) on the angular sensor (6) until the drilling coincides with the center of the two protruding parts, in this position, insert the pin (8) | Utilize a suitable drive to install. The angular sensor (6) stays locked in the “Nominal” position with the actuation lever (3) in the horizontal. In this position are carried out the height calibration operations with the STAR DIAGNOSIS. | |
