Remove

Remove the oil pump

Measure

Measure the axial clearance of both the oil pump driven (2) and drive (3) gears

Remove the cap (1)

 Be careful not to damage the sealing surface.

Measure the axial clearance of both the oil pump driven (2) and drive (3) gears

Disassembling

Remove the driven gear (2) from the oil pump housing (4)

Insert a suitable mandrel (8) through the driven gear bearing hole (2) removed from the oil pump housing (4) and lean it on the drive gear (5)

Place a suitable shim (7) on the other side of the drive gear (5)

 The shim (7) should be approximately 6 mm shorter than the mandrel (8), otherwise the drive gear (5) will be damaged.

Wear gloves, protective clothing and goggles.

Press the driven gear (3) using a suitable extractor mandrel (6), separating it from the drive gear (5)

 Possibly heat the drive gear (5).

Observe the removal direction (arrow) for the oil pump driven gear (3).

Inspect the driven gear (2), the oil pump drive gear (3), the inner surfaces of the oil pump housing (4) and the cover (1) for wear

 If necessary, replace the oil pump.



Assembling

Clean the crankshaft bearings with suede

Insert the driven gear (3) in the oil pump housing (4)

Press the drive gear (5) on the drive shaft of the oil pump drive gear (3) until it reaches the drive gear (5) installation depth relative to the drive shaft (A)

 Measure the drive gear (5) installation depth relative to the drive shaft (A), using a depth caliper.

Insert the driven gear (2) in the oil pump housing (4)

Measure the axial clearance of both the oil pump driven (2) and drive (3) gears

Screw the cap (1)



Test

Check whether the driven gear (2) and the oil pump drive gear (3) can be easily rotated. To do so, turn the drive gear (5)


