Visually check bottom of piston as to damages

Indications to evaluate pistons and piston rings

Verify worn out or damaged cylinder liner parts

Remove piston

Only if it is profoundly worn out or damaged at the bottom or surface.

Visually inspect for worn out or damaged piston rod and rings

Indications to evaluate pistons and piston rings

Remove connecting rod and the connecting rod bushing washer (connecting rod eye) and visually check for damages or twisted oil openings

In case there are grooves or notches, the connecting rod must be replaced. In case the damages cannot be unequivocally assessed:

Check connecting rod.

Visually check for damaged or worn out connecting rod bushings and bushings pins

If damage or wear out is identified, the engine must be removed and repaired. Do not proceed to any other steps.
