Removing the cylinder head

Clean the sealing gasket mating surface on the cylinder block deck

Indications on mating surface machining in engine repairs.

Turn the crankshaft until the piston of the cylinder to be checked is at the bottom dead center (UT), then do a visual inspection of the cylinder liner honed area

If the visual evaluation of the honed area is not possible:

Measure the cylinder bore.

Visually check the piston head for damages

Should a piston head damage be confirmed:

Install a new piston
