1 2/2-way valve
Location
The 2/2-directional control valve (1) is located on the top side of the retarder housing.
Task
The 2/2-directional control valve (1) serves an actuator for the control of oil flow between the oil expansion reservoir and the diaphragm chamber inside the retarder.
Function
When the retarder is activated the 2/2-directional control valve (1) is in the shufoff position and no oil flow is possible between the diaphragm chamber and oil expansion reservoir. The directional control valve 2/2(1) is actuated via an air duct to the retarder valve block (Y144) by applying pressure.
When the retarder is deactivated the 2/2-directional control valve (1) is in the flow-through position and it is possible for oil to flow between the diaphragm chamber and oil expansion reservoir. The retarder oil which has collected in the oil expansion reservoir flows via the open 2/2-directional control valve (1) back into the diaphragm chamber.
The air which has collected in the diaphragm chamber during the brake application can escape via the open 2/2-directional control valve (1) into the oil expansion reservoir and from there into the atmosphere via the profile ventilation and the oil separator.
The integral surge protection of the 2/2-directional control valve (1) ensures that only a limited portion of the retarder oil which has previously flowed back from the working circuit into the diaphragm chamber travels from the diaphragm chamber to the oil expansion reservoir
