Function
General
Transmission oil cooling is tasked with the function of maintaining a constant transmission oil temperature. This prevents overheating damage to the automatic transmission.

Function
The transmission oil is drawn out of the oil pan by a mechanical pump in the automatic transmission and then pumped to the oil thermostat via the feed. At a transmission oil temperature < 90 °C, the oil thermostat routes the transmission oil back to the automatic transmission via the return line. At a transmission oil temperature of > 90 °C, the oil thermostat opens and transmission oil flows through the additional oil cooler and the oil cooler before it flows back to the automatic transmission through the return line.
