Air pump switchover valve task

When actuated, the air pump switchover valve switches the vacuum from the intake manifold through to the air shutoff valve. This valve opens and the air supplied by the air pump is forced into the exhaust manifold.

Air pump switchover valve design/function

Air pump switchover valve is actuated by the engine control module through its own output stage simultaneously to the air pump by means of a GND signal.

Voltage is supplied through the overvoltage protection relay (model 124, 202 up to 7/96), base module (model 129, 140), relay module (model 170, 210 up to 2/97) or the fuse and relay module (model 202 as of 8/96, model 210 as of 3/97, model 163 designation F1).
