Function

The DFI control module (N3/8) detects the engine speed by means of the crankshaft position sensor (L5/6) and limits this to about 4500 – 4800 rpm (no engine load) through the fuel metering actuator (Y23/3k1).

The quantity injected is reduced if the following operating conditions exist in order to protect the engine and the drive train:

 each time the engine is started provided the clutch pedal has not been depressed

 when the clutch pedal is depressed

In this case, engine speed is limited to
3500 rpm at a vehicle speed of < 10 km/h on models with manual transmission.


