1 | Move engine hood (1) to upright position | ||
2 | Remove bolts (3) | | |
3 | Remove engine hood catch lower section (2) upward from radiator crossmember (4) until lock (5) is accessible. | ||
4 | Unhook release cable (5) from engine hood catch lower section (2). | ||
5.1 | Disconnect electrical connector (6) from engine hood bottom section (2) on right | Only on vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) | |
6 | Unscrew bolts (8) and remove engine hood lock top section (7) from engine hood (1) | | |
7 | Install in the reverse order | ||
8 | Check engine hood fit | ||

9.1 | Check function of ATA engine hood switch (S62) | Only on vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) | |
Release engine hood catch lower section (2) with suitable tool with engine hood (1) open and lock vehicle with transmitter key. Wait approx. 10 s and then release engine hood catch lower section (2) with suitable tool; the alarm should be triggered. The alarm can be switched off by locking or unlocking the vehicle with the transmitter key. |
