Commercially available tools
The measuring procedure uses a special measuring fluid which removes the carbon dioxide (CO2) from the exhaust gas. Due to a change in volume the measuring procedure permits the display of the CO2-level in % by volume . The measuring fluid must be replaced every six months or after 300 measurements. Further instructions on the tester and measuring procedure can be obtained from the instructions for use enclosed with the tester.
Danger!
The measuring fluid is caustic. Protect eyes and skin from contact. Keep the measuring fluid away from painted surfaces.

The stationary heater unit must run in full load mode for the check.
1 Stationary heater or heater booster is operating.
2 Before each measurement swivel the tester perpendicularly though 180o. The protective cap of the valve must point downwards and the measuring fluid must run once completely through the equipment cavity.
P83.70-0242-01
3 Move the tester into the initial position again with the valve upwards and allow the measuring fluid to run back completely.
4 Remove the protective cap from the valve (arrow) and press the valve several times for venting.

5 Position tester upright in the area of the exhaust gas outlet and adjust the 0 point on the scale to the level of the measuring fluid.
6 Insert emission sensor in the exhaust gas outlet.
7 Press the rubber coupling piece of the emission sensor firmly on the tester valve and keep pressed throughout the entire measuring process. Due the pressure the valve is pressed down at the same time and therefore the entrance to the measuring fluid is opened.
8 Operate the rubber bellows of the emission sensor 18 times with the free hand.
9 Relieve the load on the rubber coupling piece and consequently the valve quickly so that the gas specimen taken cannot escape from the tester.
10 Swivel the tester through 180o for a total of four times in succession. The measuring fluid must run completely through the equipment cavity once in each case
11 Position the tester upright with the valve upwards.
12 Once the measuring fluid has made contact, read off the CO2 level in % by volume on the display scale and compare with the specified values.
13 Adjust emission level if necessary.

14 In each case after completing a measuring procedure, remove the emission sensor from the tester and bleed the tester by pressing the valve several times (arrow). Then fit the protective cap to the valve.
