Removing and installing heater housing

Removal, installation

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

 Installation: Pour in coolant.

Remove left air inlet

Remove right air inlet

Remove water collector

Pull off heater feed and return hoses, loosen 3 hose clamps

 Plug openings (parts kit).

Remove instrument panel

 Installation:

Before installing the instrument panel, check for proper functioning.

Remove center console

Remove air ducts in rear compartment /stowage compartment ventilation

Take out left floor covering

Remove floor covering on right

Remove left/right rear compartment air ducts

Pull off ignition/starter switch connector (S2/1)

Remove jacket tube

Remove connector (19) from passenger airbag

Disconnect vacuum lines at cockpit separation point (35)

Separate blower motor connector

Pull off coupling, vacuum valve (Y13)
fresh air/recirculating air flap

Pull off temperature sensor connector (29)

heat exchanger (B10/1)

Remove holder for jacket tube separation point (32) on brace (33)

Open cable straps (27)

Unclip shift lock cables (28) and detach from steering lock and pedal system

 Vehicles with automatic transmission

Code 420/425.

Remove holder (30), unscrew screw (31)

Remove transverse pipe (20). For this purpose, unscrew screws (23) and nuts (22)

Remove air ducts for air nozzles on left and right

Loosen wiring duct (25), unscrew screws (26) and lay down to side

Remove heater housing

Install in opposite order
