Remove

Prepare adhesive cartridge.

Open side window in driver door.


The side window in the driver door must be open during the curing time of the adhesive material.
This prevents the rear window (1) from being pressed outwards by the air pressure when the door are closed.

Remove roof spoiler with integrated brake lamp.

Remove additional brake lamp.

Remove liftgate wiper motor.

Disconnect all electrical connectors on rear window (1).

 The number of electrical connectors varies according to vehicle equipment.

Fix all electrical lines connected to rear window (1) to inside of rear window (1) with suitable tape.

 The number of electrical lines varies depending on the vehicle equipment.

Protect areas around rear window (1) against damage with suitable tape.

 Warning

Risk of injury from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

Cut out rear window (1) with window removal tool and remove.

Install

Prepare liftgate for installation.

The liftgate must be free of dust and grease.
Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease.

 Use only primer filler and primer sticks approved by Daimler AG:

 Use only repair kit specified in EPC.

Prepare rear window (1) for installation.

The bonding area on the rear window (1) must be absolutely free of dust and grease.
Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease.

 Use only repair kit specified in EPC.

Replace rubber window spacers.

 Remove protective foil from rubber window spacers only on one side.

Align rear window (1) in liftgate, attach multiple tape strips for later positioning, cut and remove rear window (1) again.

 Helper required.

Detach protective foil from the rubber window spacers.

Apply adhesive material.

Install rear window (1) within 10 min after applying adhesive material.
Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease.

 Uniformly apply adhesive bead at a height of approx. 13 mm.

 Use only repair kit specified in EPC.

Align rear window (1) in liftgate according to tape strips, firmly press on and fix in place with suitable tape.

 Helper required.

 Observe manufacturer's specifications for curing time of adhesive material.
Perform following work only after curing time.

Connect all electrical connectors to rear window (1).

Install liftgate wiper motor.

Close side window in driver's door.

Remove all tape from vehicle.



Clean

Clean rear window (1), adjacent painted parts and vehicle interior.
