 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Unclip electric lines of exhaust gas flap actuator motors from brackets

Release and disconnect electrical connector of left exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/53)

Release and disconnect electrical connector of right actuator motor exhaust flap (M16/54)

Release and disconnect electrical connector of center exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/55)

Remove clamps (4)

 Installation: Replace clamps (4).

 Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system

Remove elastomer bearings (3) from exhaust system (1)

 Installation: Wet elastomer bearings (3) with lubricant.

Lubricant, rubber assembly 1 l

Remove exhaust system (1) downwards

 Aid of helper required.

Remove combustion and corrosion residues at flange connections

Check elastomer bearings (3) for damage

In case of a complaint



Replace elastomer bearings (3).

Modify left exhaust flap actuator motor (M16/53)

When replacing the exhaust system (1).

Modify right exhaust flap actuator motor (M16/54)

When replacing the exhaust system (1).

Modify center exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/55)

When replacing the exhaust system (1).

Install in the reverse order

Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system (1)

In case of a complaint



Re-align exhaust system (1).

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run to test exhaust system (1) function and check for leak tightness
