2.4.03 | Dismount pressure supply valve unit from front axle carrier, incorporated for the first time | Step 2.1
2.4.03 | Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system, incorporated for the first time | Step 8
2.4.03 | Carry out engine test run and check exhaust system for leaks, incorporated for the first time | Stage 9 |
| Remove/Install | ||
Danger! | Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes from handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
1 | Remove rear bottom part of noise encapsulation | Installation: Install rear bottom part of noise encapsulation only after engine test run.
2.1 | Dismount pressure supply valve unit from front axle carrier | Vehicles with Active Body Control (ABC) code 487a.
3 | Remove clamps (11/1) between catalytic converters (120) and turbochargers | In order to avoid damaging the decoupling element, the clamps (11/1) must be installed first when removing and last when installing.
| |||
4 | Remove bolts (11/2). | | |
5 | Separate left and right flange connection (12a, 12b) | Installation: First of all tighten left flange connection (12a), otherwise leakage could occur.
Installation: Replace sealing rings (21a, 21b).
| |||
6 | Unscrew nuts (11/3) and take out catalytic converters (120)
7 | Install in the reverse order
| Inspect | ||
8 | Inspect installation position and clearance of exhaust system | The exhaust system must be installed free of stress, if necessary:
Align exhaust system. | |||
Danger! | Risk of accident as vehicle may start off by itself with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
9 | Conduct engine test run and inspect exhaust system for leaks |
