Remove/install

Remove front engine compartment paneling

 Installation: Only install engine compartment paneling after a leak test.

Remove fan unit

Drain air conditioning system

Detach high-pressure line at A/C compressor

 Bolt, high-pressure line to refrigerant compressor

Expose electrical wiring harness and release and disconnect electrical connection for oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/2)

Detach screw/bolts (1) and take out profiled clamp (2) upwards

 Installation: Replace profiled clamp (2).

 Clamp, turbocharger to exhaust system

Raise vehicle

Expose electrical wiring harness, release and disconnect electrical connection for oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/1)

Loosen clamp (3)

 Installation: Replace clamp (3).

 Clamp, front exhaust system to catalytic converter/gasoline particulate filter

Unhook CAT (6) from elastomer bearing (4)

Detach bracket (5) with elastomer bearing (4) from oil pan

Remove catalytic converter (6) downwards

Detach elastomer bearing (4) at CAT (6)

Check elastomer bearing (4) for damage

For damage



Replace elastomer bearing (4).

Remove oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/2)

When replacing catalytic converter (6).

Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20

Install in the reverse order

Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
