 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Lift vehicle with lifting platform.

Secure rear muffler (1) against falling down.



Cut off rear muffler (1) at separating point (T1).

If a one-piece exhaust system is installed.

 Separating point (T1) is marked.

 Installation: Install a new clamp.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Chain pipe cutter

 Clamp, front exhaust system to rear muffler

Remove clamp at separating point (T1).

If a two-piece exhaust system is installed.

 Installation: Replace clamp.

Detach rear muffler (1) from brackets (2, 3) and remove.

 Wet elastomer bearings with lubricant.

Check

Check elastomer bearings for wear and damage.

If there is a problem:



Replace corresponding elastomer bearing.



Clean

Remove combustion and corrosion residues at separating point (T1).

Install in the reverse order.

Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system.

If there is a problem,



Re-align the exhaust system.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check exhaust system for leak tightness.
