Danger

Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

Test adapter

All measurements in the high-voltage on-board electrical system are to be carried out only with the approved test adapter.
The high-voltage connection points or high voltage components will otherwise be damaged.

The proper function of the measuring instrument must be ensured before the start of inspection work by means of a function check in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and by means of a visual check for external damage.

The proper function of the test adapter must be ensured before that start of inspection work by means of a visual check for external damage.

While performing the tests, fill out the printed test log (form) step by step.
After the end of the test and until the restart procedure, place the test log (form) behind the windshield.

Carefully connect the bushes using the probes of the measuring instrument.
The bushings or probes will otherwise be damaged.

Do not insert probes of the measuring instrument vertically into the bushes.
Otherwise, the measurement result may be false.

Voltage measurements (A, B, C)

The voltage measurement (A) is performed between the red bush (Plus)/(HV+) and black bush (Minus)/(HV-) on the test adapter (6).
The voltage measurement (B) is performed between the red bush (Plus)/(HV+) and brown bush (ground connection)/(HV) on the test adapter (6).
The voltage measurement (C) is performed between the black bush (Minus)/(HV-) and brown bush (ground connection)/(HV) on the test adapter (6).
If the measuring instrument outputs an acoustic signal as a result instead of a voltage value during a voltage measurement (A, B, C), this is not a malfunction.
In this case, the detected voltage is below the display range of the measuring instrument, which is why the continuity check is activated automatically.
In this case, a voltage value of 0 V must be entered in the test log (form).

1

Using the measuring instrument, perform voltage measurements (A, B, C) on the bushes, assess them, and enter them in the test log.

If a voltage of  60 V DC is measured during all voltage measurements (A, B, C), the vehicle is deemed to be free of high voltage.
Absence of voltage has thus been determined.

If there is a direct voltage  60 V DC during one of the three voltage measurements (A, B, C):

Cancel voltage measurement (A, B, C), wait approx. 2 min, and then perform a second voltage measurement (A, B, C).

If there is still a direct voltage of  60 V DC during the second voltage measurement (A, B, C):

Cancel the manual test for absence of voltage and inform the market support team responsible immediately.
