 Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove/install

Remove air intake pipe.

Remove vacuum line (1) from cover of left cylinder head cover and place outside of working area.

Remove glow output stage (2) with bracket and place outside of working area.

 Do not disconnect electrical connections.

Disconnect electrical connector (3).

Open clamps (4).

 Installation: Replace clamps(4).

 Pliers for click clamps

Remove fuel hoses (5) from fuel filter (6).

 Collect escaping fuel. Seal fuel hoses (5).

 Installation: Check fuel hoses (5) for wear and damage.

 Record plug

Depending on the findings,



Replace affected fuel hose (5).

Loosen the screw (7) by a few turns.

Remove fuel filter (6) in upward direction.

Install in the reverse order.

Switch ignition on and off several times in succession.


Do not start engine yet; leave ignition switched on for at least 15 s.
The fuel high-pressure pump may otherwise be damaged when the engine is started.

 This ensures that the fuel filter (6) is filled with fuel before the engine is started.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
