 Danger

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Fully extend toothed rack (2) by turning steering to full lock.

 Turn in opposite direction to affected tie rod with axial joint (1).

Remove respective boot.

Tie rod with axial joint (1).


Counterhold toothed rack (2).
This avoids any damage to the steering gear.

 Unscrew tie rod with axial joint (1) from toothed rack (2).

 Commercially available devices/tools
Open end wrench bit 38 mm



Install

Install tie rod with axial joint (1).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

Counterhold toothed rack (2).
This avoids any damage to the steering gear.

 To do so, bolt tie rod with axial joint (1) onto toothed rack (2) and tighten.

Open end wrench bit 38 mm

Install boot.
