5

Tilt cab.

6

Secure steering wheel against turning.

Fix the steering wheel in place on the support rod using e.g. cable ties.
Before securing, make sure that the steering gear is at the center position.

7

Mark installation position of universal joint (2) relative to lower steering shaft (7).

To do so, e.g., mark the position of the slot in the universal joint (2) on the lower steering shaft (7).

8

Remove universal joint (2) from lower steering shaft (7) and secure upper steering shaft (1) against falling down.

9.1

Mark installation position of universal joint (6) relative to steering gear.

Vehicles without code C6G (Steering, Servotwin) or code C6H (Steering, Servotwin, 4-axle vehicle)

To do so, e.g., mark the position of the slot in the universal joint (6) on the steering gear.

9.2

Mark installation position of universal joint (6) relative to electromechanical controller unit.

Vehicles with code C6G (Steering, Servotwin) or code C6H (Steering, Servotwin, 4-axle vehicle)

To do this, mark e.g. the position of the slot in the universal joint (6) on the electromechanical controller unit.

10

Remove screw for fastening universal joint (6) to primary shaft of steering gear.

11

Remove screws (3) and remove holder for steering shaft bearing (4) from cab suspension mounting support (5).

12

Remove lower steering shaft (7) together with universal joint (6), steering shaft bearing (8) and steering shaft bearing holder (4).

13

Release grub screw (11) on inner race (9) and detach steering shaft bearing (8) from lower steering shaft (7).

Only if the lower steering shaft (7) or the steering shaft bearing (8) are replaced.

14

Remove steering shaft bearing holder (4) from steering shaft bearing (8).

Only if the steering shaft bearing (8) is to be replaced.
