Remove/install

Remove steering column module.

Remove left cover under instrument panel.

Remove bolt (2).

 Installation: Slide screw (2) completely through radial groove (arrow) of steering column tube (1).

 Bolt, universal joint of steering shaft to steering column tube

Remove steering shaft (3) from steering column tube (1).

 Installation:
Attach steering shaft (3) correctly to steering column tube (1).
Otherwise, the steering shaft (3) will be insufficiently secured.

Remove screws/bolts (4).

 Screw/bolt, steering column tube for steering shaft to instrument panel crossmember

Remove steering column tube (1).

 Model 447 with engine 274, 622, 651, 654
except code G42 (7G-TRONIC PLUS)
except code G43 (9G-TRONIC)
To do so, release electrical connector (5) and disconnect from electric steering lock control unit (N26/5).

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check electric steering lock.

Model 447 with engine 274, 622, 651, 654
with code G42 (7G-TRONIC PLUS)
with code G43 (9G-TRONIC)

Perform test drive to check the steering wheel position.

If steering wheel position is incorrect,



perform suitable repair measures.
