Remove/install

Deactivate easy entry and exit feature.

Model 167
with code 275 (Memory Package (driver's seat, steering column and mirror))

Turn steering wheel to center position (front wheels in straight-ahead position) and fix steering wheel in place using holding device.


Do not twist steering wheel when steering coupling (1) is removed.
Otherwise the clock spring contact will be destroyed.

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Unclip line bracket (6) and push to one side with electric lines until the screw (3) is accessible.

Remove bolt (3) .

Remove the engine compartment lining at the front and in the center.

Remove screw (5).

 Bolt, steering coupling to rack-and-pinion steering

Detach steering coupling (1) from rack-and-pinion steering (2).

Turn steering gear to center position

Do not use force (hammer blows, excessive leverage).
Otherwise the rack-and-pinion steering (2) will be damaged.

 Installation: The rack-and-pinion steering (2) must be in the center position in order to install the steering coupling (1).

Detach steering coupling (1) from steering shaft (4).

Remove steering coupling (1).

Install in the reverse order.
