P46.10-0216-01
The center position of the contact spiral (A45) is crucial for trouble-free functioning of the airbag and the horn. In the removed condition, the retaining bolts (32h) ensure that the position is maintained.
However, if the contact spiral is twisted, e.g.
If the steering coupling is removed
If the retaining bolts are fully unscrewed
then the center position must be found as follows:
P46.10-0407-01
1 Remove contact spiral (A45)
2 Screw retaining bolts all the way into contact spiral (A45).
3 Twist contact spiral (A45) counterclockwise until a slight resistance can be felt (the contact spiral (A45) is fully rolled up).
4 Twist contact spiral (A45) approx. 2.5 - 3 turns clockwise (turn back) until the retaining bolts (32h) can be unscrewed again through the openings to hold the contact spiral (A45) in position.
The full turning range of the contact spiral is approx. 5 - 6 turns.
