Trailer retarding brake valve

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove

Secure vehicle to prevent it moving away.

Engage parking brake.

Switch off ignition.

Remove instrument cluster cover (2).

Remove Truck Control Center(TCC)(A9).

Remove ventilation heating control and operating unit(A12).

Remove modular switch panel (MSF) control unit (A43).

Remove instrument panel switch module (A44, A45, A46).

Remove cover (1).

Remove screw (3) and remove trim (4).

Remove center module (10).

Remove screws (8) and take off retaining plate (7).

Remove screws (5) and remove trailer retarding brake valve (14.16) upwards.



Install

Insert trailer retarding brake valve (14.16) and fix in place with screws (5).

 Replace O-rings.

Position retaining plate (7) on trailer retarding brake valve (14.16) and fix in place with screws (8).

Insert trim (4) and fix in place with screw (3).

Install cover (1).

Install instrument panel switch module (A44, A45, A46).

Start engine and completely fill compressed-air system at idle speed.

Switch off engine.

Release parking brake.

Check compressed-air lines (9) for leak tightness.
