1 | Loosen the attachment bolts (16) of the control unit (15) and remove it | Attach the adjuster to a bench vice with the clamps protected by aluminum plates. | |
2 | Remove the rack (11) by compressing springs (18) and (19) | ||
3 | Remove the expansion cover (17) and remove springs (18) and (19) | Use an adequate mandrel. | |
4 | Remove the rear threaded cover (23), the helical spring (22) and the stop washer (21) | Remove the rivet (24) and loosen the cover (23) with a special tool. | |
5 | Remove the front threaded cover (3) and the needle bearing (4) | Remove the rivet (24) and loosen the cover (3) with a special tool. | |
6 | Loosen the uni-directional coupling (5), (6) and (7) and displace bearing (9), removing the worm gear (10) | Use the mandrel and the bushing found in the tool kit. | |
7 | Remove the pinion (12) and the sealing rings (13) | ||

9 | Start the inspection and control | With the help of a measuring instrument, check: | |
- Diameter of the housing receptacle (1). | |||
- Diameter of the ring gear receptacle (12). | |||
- Diameter of the worm gear receptacle (10). | |||
- Diameter of the ring gear (12). | |||
- Diameter of the worm gear shaft (10). | |||
External micrometer from 50 to 75 mm. | |||
Internal diameter gauge (sudden) from 35 to 60 mm. | |||
Dial gauge. | |||
| Assemble | ||
Replace the parts belonging to the repair kit. | |||
10 | Assemble the pinion (12) together with the sealing rings (13), in the housing (1) | The ring gear (12) must be assembled with the collar pointing upwards. | |
11 | Assemble the worm gear (10) duly lubricated into the housing (1), ensure free movement by turning it until the ring gear (12) has completed one rotation | Press the bearing until its edge touches the housing. | |
12 | Assemble the set of parts of the uni-directional coupling (5), (6) and (7) duly lubricated into the housing (1) | Keep the pressure until the parts of the set fit together. | |
13 | Install the sealing ring (8) in the worm gear groove (10) and, after attaching the greased axial needle bearing (4) on the threaded cover (3), install into the housing (1) | Using a special tool, apply the specified torque on the threaded cover (3), check whether the worm gear moves freely (10). | |

14 | Check the worm gear axial clearance (10) | Kit of special tools supplied by Haldex do Brasil under code 78340. | |
15 | Insert springs (18) and (19), fit the rack (11) and insert the expansion cover (17) with the convex side pointing outwards | Check the correct positioning of springs (18) and (19) over the rack hook (11). | |
16 | Assemble the control unit (15) with a new sealing gasket (14), attaching it with bolts (16) | Check the correct fitting of the groove on the rack hook (11). | |
17 | Measure the height of the uni-directional coupling teeth | Kit of special tools supplied by Haldex do Brasil under code 78340. | |
18 | Assemble the stop washer (21) with the spherical salience pointing to the worm gear (10) , the helical spring (22) and the rear threaded cover (23) duly lubricated, insert the rivet (24) | With the help of the special tool, insert the cover (23) for 4 turns. | |
19 | Adjust the automatic adjuster (1) and lubricate it | Kit of special tools supplied by Haldex do Brasil under code 78340. | |
