Removing

Remove rear wheels

Remove brake drum (1) from wheel hub (2)

 Mark position of brake drum to wheel hub.

Clean brake drum (1) and brake linings

Checking

Check wear limit and surface condition of friction surface of brake drum (1) as well as thickness and condition of brake linings

 The brake drums and brake linings of the rear axle should always be replaced completely or processed on both sides.

With

- If the dimension for the wear limit of the brake drum is exceeded:

- Replace brake drum.

- Replace brake linings (standard dimension).

- Poor surface condition of brake drum and/ or

- If the minimum thickness for the brake lining thickness is dropped below, oil fouling, glazing or different abrasion

- Skim brake drum as per the fixed repair stage.

- Replace brake linings (overdimension) and skim to the new diameter of the brake drum less the air gap.



Install

Slide brake drum (1) onto the wheel hub (2)

Check position of brake camshafts

If the position of the brake camshaft is in the permissible range then the air gap of the drum brake is also correct.



Carry out function check on service and parking brakes
