Remove wheels

Detach brake drum

 Perform step on each wheel brake.

Measure

Measure wear limit of brake drum

 If the wear limit measurement is exceeded, replace all brake drums on the axle: 

Remove/install brake drum

Check

Inspect surface condition of friction surface of brake drum

 If the surface quality of the friction surface of the brake drum is poor, determine the suitable permissible repair stage and machine all the brake drums on the axle to the determined repair stage.

Check lining thickness of brake shoes

 Do this if the brake drum has not been machined. The wear limit of the brake shoes is marked by a stepped edge on the brake lining. If the wear limit is reached the brake shoes must be replaced subject to separate repair order:



Install brake shoes of a suitable repair stage

 Do this if the brake drum has been machined: 

Skim down brake shoes to new diameter of brake drum minus play.
