Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Detach rear engine compartment paneling at the bottom

Detach propeller shaft (1) from transfer case

 Mark installation position of the propeller shaft (1) and remove bolts (2).

 Installation: Lightly coat bolts (2) with thread locking agent. Observe installation position of propeller shaft (1).



Detach propeller shaft (1) from front axle gear

 Mark installation position of propeller shaft (1) and secure against falling down. Remove bolts (2).

 Installation: Lightly coat bolts (2) with thread locking agent. Observe installation position of propeller shaft (1).



Remove bolts for engine mount to transmission carrier



Remove propeller shaft (1)

 To do so, push transfer case slightly to the rear until the propeller shaft (1) can be removed.



Checking

Check propeller shaft (1)

 Check propeller shaft (1) for wear, replace if necessary.

Install in the reverse order
