No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Unclip electrical feed line of O2 sensor from retaining clamps (6)

Undo bolt (3) and nut (5) and remove exhaust shielding plate (2)

Remove exhaust bracket (44)

 Depending on vehicle version.

Mark front axle gear propeller shaft (70) relative to front axle gear flange and to transfer case flange

Slacken bolts for front axle gear propeller shaft (70) on front axle gear flange and transfer case flange

 Counterhold propeller shaft for front axle gear (70) using  counterholder (070).



Detach front axle gear propeller shaft (70) from front axle gear flange

 Installation: Observe marking.

 Counterhold propeller shaft for front axle gear (70) using  counterholder (070).

Check universal joints and replace front axle gear propeller shaft (70) if necessary

Check rubber boot (71)

If necessary, replace rubber boot (71)
