Disassemble

1

Remove crown gear (4) with differential (2).

Detach tapered roller bearing (1) from differential (2).

Detach tapered roller bearing (6) from crown gear (4).

Clamp differential (2) with crown gear (4) at differential housing in a vise.

 Do not clamp in at seat of tapered roller bearing (1).

Remove screws (5).

Remove crown gear (4) from differential (2).

Remove differential side gear (3) from differential (2).

Take differential (2) out of vise.



Assemble

Clamp differential (2) at differential housing in a vise.

 Do not clamp in at seat of tapered roller bearing (1).

Insert differential side gear (3) into differential (2).

Screw in two guide pins at two opposite bores in the differential (2).



Guide bolts for assembling differential and ring gear

Place crown gear (4) over guide pins onto differential (2).

Remove both guide pins.

Screw in new screws (5) up to contact surface on crown gear (4) in differential (2).

Tighten new screws (5) in a crosswise pattern and in 2 stages.

 Ring gear to differential

Remove crown gear (4) with differential (2) from vise and place onto a working area.

Heat up tapered roller bearing (6) to approx. 80 °C and attach up to contact surface on crown gear (4).

 If necessary, readjust inner race of tapered roller bearing (6) with suitable drift.

Heat up tapered roller bearing (1) to approx. 80 °C and attach up to contact surface on differential (2).

 If necessary, readjust inner race of tapered roller bearing (1) with suitable drift.

19

Install crown gear (4) with differential (2).
