Removing

Remove wheels

Remove rear axle rpm sensor

Code (B02) brake system, antilock brake system (ABS)

Remove brake pads

AR42.10-D-1700B

Remove brake caliper (17) and fasten to frame with binding wire.

Remove rear-axle shaft (2)

Release and unscrew outer slotted nut (3)



Remove lock washer (4) and unscrew inner slotted nut (5)



Remove thrust plate (6) and outer wheel bearing (7)

Remove rear wheel hub (9) together with brake disk (11).

Unscrew bolts (8) and remove rear wheel hub (9) from brake disk (11).

Remove radial sealing ring (10)

Check thrust ring (12) for damage and score marks

 If necessary, replace thrust ring (12).

Install

Insert inner wheel bearing

 Grease wheel bearing thoroughly beforehand.

Install radial sealing ring (10)

 Do not apply sealer to the radial oil seals (10) equipped with extruded rubber edge seals. Fill the area between the dust guard and extruded edge seal with all-purpose grease.

Mount rear wheel hub (9) at brake disk (11).



Push rear wheel hub (9) onto axle tube

Insert outer wheel bearing (7) and thrust plate (6)

 Thoroughly grease outer wheel bearing (7) beforehand.

Tighten inner slotted nut (5)

 Apply blows with a rubber mallet in a crosswise pattern while constantly turning the rear wheel hub when tightening the inner slotted nut (5) on the rear wheel hub, continuing until the tapered roller bearings are seated without play. Undo the inner slotted nut (5) by 45°.



Fit locking plate (4)

 Install new locking plate (4).

Tighten outer slotted nut (3)

Adjust wheel bearing play
