Remove wheels

Support vehicle on its frame

Remove ABS sensor

Disconnect compressed-air lines (6) from combination cylinder

With compressed air connection system "VOSS 230".

With compressed air connection system "VOSS 232" (NG 8, 12) or "SCHÄFER SDF" (NG 6).

 Installation: Check O-rings and replace if necessary.



Disconnect sensor line connector (8) of brake wear sensors

 Sensor lines without plug connection - remove plug (9) directly at brake wear sensor.

Detach connector (14) and compressed air line (10) from the differential lock

Remove plug (15) from rear axle temperature sensor

 Only on vehicles with maintenance system (WS).

Disconnect vent line (5) from axle housing

Detach ALB linkage (7)

Detach compressed air distributor from axle housing

 Do not disconnect lines.

Detach lines and wiring harnesses fastened to the axle housing and tie to one side with the compressed air distributor

Remove stabilizer

Remove shock absorber

Only detach propeller shaft at rear axle drive flange

 Secure propeller shaft to prevent it from falling.

Raise rear axle until leaf springs (3) are unloaded and secure axle to prevent it falling

 Use a jack or inspection pit lift.

Remove spring bracket (1), link bracket (12) and spring seat (2) on right and left

 Installation: Replace self-locking nuts (13).



Lower rear axle and remove spring pads (4) from axle housing

 Installation: Lightly grease mounting hole for center bolt in spring pad (4) When lifting the axle, ensure that the center bolts engage in the mounting bores.

Pull rear axle out from under the vehicle.

Install in the reverse order
