Removing

Remove ring gear with differential

Detach pinion housing (1)

Remove sealing rings (4) from the three countersunk holes in the pinion housing (1)



Install

Insert new seal rings (4) into three countersunk holes in pinion housing (1)

Attach pinion housing (1)

 Coat sealing surfaces of pinion housing (1) and on axle housing (3) as well as spacer washer (2) with sealant.

Place the shim (2) on the axle housing (3) such that the oil duct is kept clear.

Determine installed dimension (A) of drive pinion

 Using a depth gauge, measure the installed dimension (A) from the center of the tapered roller bearing mount on the axle housing (3) to the end face of the drive pinion.

Compare measured installed dimension (A) with basic dimension

 The basic dimension is engraved on the drive pinion and the ring gear.

Adjust difference between installed dimension (A) and basic dimension

 By adding or removing shims (2) between the pinion housing (1) and axle housing (3).

Install crown wheel with differential
