Remove/install

Remove propeller shaft from drive flange of front axle.

Drain oil from axle through drive (5).



Remove electrical connector at interwheel differential lock indicator switch and at interaxle differential lock indicator switch.

Remove compressed-air line at interwheel differential lock cover and at interaxle differential lock cover.

Mechanically lock interwheel differential at axle through drive (5).

Remove both drive shafts of front axle.

Remove axle through drive (5).


Before the last two screws (3) are removed, it is essential that the axle through drive (5) is securely lashed on the pit hoist.
Otherwise, the axle through-drive (5) may fall out of the axle housing (4) in an uncontrolled manner.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces at the axle through-drive (5) and at the axle housing (4) and coat with sealant. Note the different screws/bolts (1, 2, 3).

Install in the reverse order.
