 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

Remove

Remove center and rear lower engine compartment lining.

Drain off front axle differential oil.



Remove drive flange.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring(1) using suitable tool.


Do not use pointed or sharp-edged tools.
Otherwise, the seat of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) may be damaged.

Clean seat and sealing area of radial shaft sealing ring(1).

Assembly cleaner

Check seat and sealing area of radial shaft sealing ring(1) in front axle differential(2) for damage and galling.

If damage and galling is detectable.



Replace front axle differential(2).

Install

Apply coating of grease to sealing and dust lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (1).

Molykote BR 2 plus grease

Moisten circumference of radial shaft sealing ring(1) with transmission oil.



Commercial vehicle hypoid gear oil mineral oil (specification 235.20)

Position radial shaft sealing ring(1) on seat in front axle differential(2).

Press in radial shaft sealing ring(1) until the radial shaft sealing ring(1) fits flush with the rear end stop in the front axle differential(2).

Install drive flange.

Add front axle differential oil.



 Only install center and rear lower rear engine compartment paneling again after leak test.

Check the front axle differential(2) in the area of the replaced radial shaft sealing ring(1) for leak tightness.

Install center and rear lower engine compartment lining.
