Disassemble/assemble

1

Disassemble front axle

AR33.10-G-0060C

Assembly: The axle drive is adjusted during front axle assembly.
During the adjustment operations on the axle drive, the new small tapered roller bearing (4) and the new large tapered roller bearing (5) must be installed.

2

Mark ring gear (1) relative to differential housing (2)

3

Remove crown gear screws (1) on differential housing (2)

Assembly: Replace screws and nuts (3).
Tighten the nuts (3) in a crosswise sequence.

Front axle 737.365/366
Assembly: Depending on the version, either one or 4 of these bolts may be fitted bolts.
The fitted bolt with the thicker shank must be screwed into the large hole.

Front axle 737.367/368
Assembly: No fitted bolts are installed.

4

Detach ring gear (1) from differential housing (2)

Assembly: Observe markings.

5

Pull small tapered roller bearing (4) off differential housing (2)

To pull off, also use drift with Ø 70 mm and length of approx. 80 mm.

Assembly: Replace the small tapered roller bearing (4), but do not yet install it.
The small tapered roller bearing (4) is installed when the axle drive is adjusted.

6

Detach large tapered roller bearing (5) from ring gear (1)

To detach, also use drift with Ø 70 mm and length of approx. 80 mm.

Assembly: Replace the large tapered roller bearing (5), but do not yet install it.
The large tapered roller bearing (5) is installed when the axle drive is adjusted.

7

Remove differential side gear (6) from ring gear (1)

8

Remove retaining rings (7) from the groove

9

Pull out both short differential gear shafts (8)

Assembly: Coat the short differential gear shafts (8) with running-in paste.

Check

15

Check all parts for wear and damage

If there are problems

Replace worn or damaged parts.

Assembly:
The ring gear (1) may only be replaced together with the drive pinion in the event of a complaint.
Ensure manufacturing numbers are the same.
The differential can otherwise be damaged.

Front axle 737.365/366
Assembly: The ring gear (1) is available with 8-bolt or 12-bolt threaded connections, and the differential housing (2) is only available with 12-bolt connections.
When using a crown gear (1) with 8bolt threaded connection, only 7 screws and one fit screw, or for an alternative version, 4 screws and 4 fit screws can be used.
Alternatively the ring gear (1) with a 12-bolt threaded connection can be installed. For this 11 screws and a fit screw, or for an alternative version, 8 screws and 4 fit screws must be used.

Front axle 737.367/368
Assembly: The ring gear (1) is attached to the differential housing (2) by a 16bolt threaded connection.
