Remove/install front axle transverse control arm

Removing

1

Insert assembly blocks between spring and spring clamp plates

 The vehicle must be standing on its wheels.



Assembly blocks for removing wishbone

Remove wheels

 Attach stands to side member in front of front axle.

Unscrew brake caliper (9) and fasten in wheel housing with wire

Unscrew fixing nut of tie rod at steering knuckle.

Press tie off steering knuckle.



Raise transverse control arm approx. 10 mm using jack.

 In order to remove the tension from the shock-absorber strut.

Unscrew shock-absorber strut (1) from steering knuckle (10)

Lower wishbone (12)

Detach transverse control arm at steering knuckle and front axle beam

Check rubber mount on wishbone and replace if necessary: 

Remove rubber mount at transverse control arm

Install

Attach transverse control arm to steering knuckle and front axle beam

 Do not tighten nuts (3) of transverse control arm bearing fixing bolts yet.

Raise transverse control arm approx. 10 mm using jack.

 In order to remove the tension from the shock-absorber strut.

Attach shock-absorber strut (1) to steering knuckle (10)



Attach tie rod to steering knuckle and screw on fixing nut (11)

 Replace nut.



Attach brake caliper (9) to steering knuckle (10).



Mount wheels

Remove assembly blocks between spring and spring clamp plate

Roll vehicle approx. 1m forwards and back, and rock firmly

Tighten nuts (3) on wishbone bearing

 The vehicle must be on its wheels.



Actuate brake pedal until brake pressure is built up again
