Remove/install

Remove wheels from axle concerned.

 After jacking up, leave the lifting device positioned at the front axle.

Remove drag link (3) from steering arm.

 If necessary, remove cover cap (7). The drag link (3) loosens suddenly.

 Installation: Replace nut (6).

 Nut to tie rod end and drag link end

Remove left and right anti-lock braking system (ABS) rpm sensor.

Disconnect electrical connectors from brakepad wear sensor (1).


Pull off and push on the plugs in an axial direction only.
Otherwise the electrical connector couplings can be damaged.

Remove compressed-air lines (4) from brake cylinders.

Support front axle (8) with lifting device and secure against tilting.

Remove stabilizer link (10) from front axle, swivel downward and remove bearing brackets (12).

Remove front axle (8) from air suspension supports (2).

 Installation: Replace bolts (9).

Lower front axle (8) and pull out from under vehicle.

Install in the reverse order.
