 Danger

Risk of death from lowering vehicle when working between wheels and body. Risk of injury from pinching or crushing when working on the air suspension.

Testing and repair work between the wheel and wheel arch or in the wheel well should only be performed if the vehicle is secured using suitable support fixtures to prevent it from lowering.
Adjustment operations should only be performed from underneath the vehicle.
Use only suitable support fixtures to secure the vehicle frame or vehicle axles in order to prevent them from lowering.
If necessary, additionally use suitable support fixtures in order to prevent other moving vehicle parts that are in the working area from lowering, or use suitable retaining devices to prevent these parts from moving suddenly and without warning.
Secure areas with moving vehicle parts against unauthorized access.

Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted

Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure it with the safety strut.

Remove/install

Lower frame by deflating air suspension bellows

 See operator's manual.
The stop blocks of the frame must be resting on the front axle.

Open maintenance flap

Tilt cab

Unscrew nuts fastening drag links (4, 5) to steering idler arm and screw on again by hand

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.


Screw on the nuts as far as the safety collar.
This prevents the threads of the ball joints from being damaged during removal.

 Counterhold the ball joints with an Allen wrench if necessary.

 Nut, drag link to steering idler arm

Pry drag link (4) off steering idler arm

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

 The drag link (4) is released suddenly.

Unscrew nut and detach drag link (4) from steering idler arm

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

Pry drag link (5) off steering idler arm

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

 The drag link (5) detaches suddenly.

Unscrew nut and detach drag link (5) from steering idler arm

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

Detach tilt cylinder bearing bracket (13) from front axle bearing bracket (14)

When removing the front axle bearing bracket (14) on the passenger side.

Detach steering idler arm bearing bracket (2) from front axle bearing bracket (11)

When removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

Detach trailing arm (7) from front axle bearing bracket (11, 14)

 Bolt, trailing arm to front axle bearing bracket

Detach stabilizer link (9) from front axle bearing bracket (11, 14)

 Bolt, stabilizer link to front axle bearing bracket

Detach bracket (1) of steering gear oil lines from front axle bearing bracket (11)

Only when removing the front axle bearing bracket (11) on the driver side.

Remove front axle bearing bracket (11, 14)

 Cut open the cable ties on the lines on the inside of the frame in the area of the front axle bearing brackets (11, 14) and create access to the screws of the front axle bearing brackets (11, 14) on the inside of the frame.
