1 | Place the vehicle on a flat and level surface | Chock the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from accidentally moving. | |
2 | Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn off the main switch | Loosen the screw from the negative cable on the stringer to prevent the battery terminals from getting loose. | |
3 | Loosen the front dampers from their lower anchors |

Excessive strokes damage the dampers. | |||
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. | |
4 | Slightly lift the vehicle evenly on both sides by the stringers, so that the torsion bar remains free of pressure to enable removing the joints | At this point, support the vehicle on safely placed trestles, so as to enable removing the torsion bar. | |
5 | Remove the self-locking nuts and pivot screws with the washers | ||
6 | Remove the upper articulation flange screws and nuts (10) from the upper anchor of the torsion bar arm ball terminals (8) | ||
7 | Remove the terminals with the aid of a copper or brass hammer, and remove the torsion bar arms (8) | Be careful not to damage the threads. | |
8 | Remove the flange bolts from the bearing caps (5) with the washers and covers of the torsion bar mounts (4), remove the front torsion bar (1) | ||

9 | inspect all components of the joint | Replace malfunctioning or deformed torsion bar arm (8) on the rod, articulation pads, upper joint flange screws and nuts (10), split bearing pads, deformed front torsion bar (1). | |
10 | Insert the new joint pads in the torsion bar eyelets | Slightly lubricate with petroleum jelly and use a vice with protected jaws. | |

| Install | ||
11 | Install the torsion bar arms (8) on top of the longitudinal member support | Use a new castle nut and a new cotter pin. | |

12 | Install the front torsion bar (1) with the new split pads onto the torsion bar mount (4) and tighten the bolts with bearing cover flanges (5) | Note the correct position of the split pads, whose splices should be parallel to the ground. | |
