Remove

Raise vehicle

Mark assembly position of bearing on torsion bar

Unscrew bolts (2)

4

Remove bolts (3) and remove torsion bar (1) from torsion bar linkage (4)

Remove clamps (5) and elastomer bearing (6)



Clean

6

Clean bearing points of torsion bar (1), torsion bar linkage (4), clamps (5) and elastomer bearing (6)

 The bearing points of the torsion bar (1) must be free of grease.



Check

7

Check bearing points of torsion bar (1), torsion bar linkage (4), clamps (5) and elastomer bearing (6) for damage and wear

If damaged or worn



Replace component in question.



Install

Mount elastomer bearing (6)



Changed rubber mount on torsion bar of rear axle

BT32.20-D-0005-01A

 Use elastomer bearing (6) only for torsion bushing. Align elastomer bearing (6) in middle of markings, with opening facing upward.

Mount clamps (5) to elastomer bearings (6)

 For easy mounting, wet the elastomer bearing (6) on the outside with water.

If the bushing has not yet been converted to a torsion bushings.



Replace clamps (5).

Position torsion bar (1), as shown, on rear axle housing and screw in bolts (2)

Adjust assembly position (dimension a) of torsion bar (1) using angle gauge

Tighten bolts (2) of clamps (5)

 Screw/bolt, torsion bar clamp to rear axle tube

Mount torsion bar (1) onto torsion bar linkage (4)

 Screw/bolt, torsion bar linkage to torsion bar/longitudinal frame member
