Detach heat shield (6) for propeller shaft behind the transfer case (16).

Detach rear propeller shaft from transfer case (16)

 Flexible disk remains on propeller shaft.

Loosen fitted sleeves of flexible coupling and push back propeller shaft

If the fitted sleeves are jammed: 

Detach fitting sleeves from flexible couplings.

Clean the area around the screw plugs (7a, 7b)

 Clean all screw plugs.

Unscrew screw plug from oil drain opening (7c), drain oil

 The vehicle must be horizontal during the oil change. Only carry out the oil change when the transfer case (16) is at operating temperature. Collect the oil using a suitable container and allow to drain off completely.



Unscrew screw plug from check opening (7b) and screw plug from oil filler opening (7a), pour in oil

 Add oil via the oil filler opening until it runs out of the inspection opening. Let oil escape for roughly 1 to 2 min. and then turn in the screw plug (7b) of the inspection opening and tighten.


