14

Mark installation position of 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer body (24) and detach

If the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer body (24) is firmly seated, pull it off using a commercially available three-arm puller. To do this, fit the three-arm puller on the 3rd gear gearwheel (25).
If necessary, heat the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer body (24) with a commercially available heat gun.

Assembly: Pay attention to marking.

15

Detach 3rd gear wheel (25) with 3rd gear synchronizer

The 3rd gear synchronizer ring (26) is installed on the 3rd gear gearwheel (25).
The 3rd gear synchronizer consists of: the 3rd gear synchronizer ring (26), the 3rd gear synchronizer cone (27) and the annular spring (28).

16

Detach 3rd gear gearwheel needle bearing (29)

Assembly: Oil the needles of the 3rd gear gearwheel needle bearing (29).

17

Pull off tapered roller bearing (30) using a commercially available three-arm puller

Assembly: Heat the inner race of the tapered roller bearing (30) to approx. 140 °C using a commercially available hot plate and push onto the main shaft (51).
When it has cooled, the inner race of the tapered roller bearing (30) must touch the reverse gear synchronizer body (31).

18

Remove reverse gear gearwheel (33)

19

Detach reverse gear synchronizer body (31) from reverse gear gearwheel (33)
